MARYSVILLE — A young man was walking on northbound I-5 in Marysville when he was struck and killed by a vehicle early Thursday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Grayson C. Yazzie, 21, of Marysville, was described by a family member in an online fundraiser as “a handsome and ambitious young man who had a heart full of love” and a “genuine person who kept things real.” The fundraiser, posted on Facebook, had raised more than $5,000 to pay for funeral expenses and was expected to be closed Friday night.

A Seattle man was driving northbound on I-5 around 2 a.m. when he struck Yazzie near 88th Street Northeast in Marysville. A brief report from the State Patrol suggested that any potential charges were under investigation. Trooper Heather Axtman could not immediately confirm whether the driver was suspected of any crimes. As of Friday afternoon, no one had been booked into the Snohomish County Jail for any related charges.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Yazzie died of blunt force injuries.
