KENNEWICK — There’s a pre-trial hearing Friday in the case of the Richland florist who is being sued for refusing to sell flowers last year for a same-sex wedding.
The Tri-City Herald reports that one of the motions asks that Barronelle Stutzman be dropped from the claims against her shop, called Arlene’s Flowers, to protect her personal assets.
She’s being sued by the state attorney general’s office and a gay Kennewick couple with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union. The cases have been combined.
Stutzman is being helped by the Alliance Defending Freedom, which defends religious rights.
