Maryville School Board: Edwards, Sheldon needed on board
Published 1:30 am Sunday, October 17, 2021
Recently the Marysville School District has experienced turmoil; the superintendent has been on an extended medical leave and there are reports of unresolved racial issues involving students. Three of the five school board members are not returning and a fourth member has a challenger in the upcoming election.
I am voting for Vanessa Edwards and Ray Sheldon Jr. for the Marysville School Board to help move the district forward. Edwards is currently the Marysville School Board president, has worked at Marysville Getchell High School, and is a parent of students in the district. With a minimum of three new members joining the school board Edwards can provide continuity, stability and knowledge of how the district works. Sheldon is a Tulalip tribal member and has been working with Marysville and Tulalip kids since the 1980s. He has been on numerous tribal and Marysville school committees and understands the important partnership between the Marysville School District and The Tulalip Tribes.
Their opponents, Wade Rinehardt and Connor Krebs, don’t have the same depth of experience and knowledge. They write about the importance of transparency and leadership yet they have failed to attend the last several public candidate forums; I wonder why.
Join me in voting for Vanessa Edwards and Ray Sheldon Jr. for the Marysville School Board.
