Drive-by shooting report puts EvCC on brief lockdown

EVERETT — Schools in north Everett briefly entered lockdown following a drive-by shooting Thursday.
Around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots at 10th and Poplar streets near Everett Community College, Everett officer Natalie Given said. Officers arrived at the scene to find an occupied vehicle had been shot at.
One bullet hit the car, but police found multiple shell casings near the vehicle, police said. No one appeared to be injured.
Nearby schools entered lockdown, Given said. By 2:30 p.m., all schools ended their lockdown.
During student pick-up, an Everett police officer was stationed outside Hawthorne Elementary as a precaution.
Everett police reported the shooter, or shooters, remained at large.
Detectives were investigating.
