The Athlete of the Week nominees for Oct. 30-Nov. 5. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Tuesday’s paper.

Kylie Hendry | Archbishop Murphy | Girls Soccer

Hendry, a junior, scored both goals, including the game-winner the second overtime, as the Wildcats outlasted Lynden 2-1 in a Class 2A District 1 tournament game Oct. 26. She won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week voting for Oct. 23-29 by claiming 3,683 of 7,103 votes.

This week’s nominees

Selena Bangerter | Jackson | Girls Cross Country

Bangerter, a junior, placed sixth in Class 4A during the state championships at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Nov. 4. She finished the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 37.7 seconds.

Aliya Boonsripisal | Kamiak | Girls Soccer

Boonsripisal, a senior, scored the winning goal as the Knights clinched a state tournament berth with a 1-0 win over Lake Stevens in a Class 4A bi-district 1/2 tournament tilt on Nov. 2.

David Brown | Lake Stevens | Football

Brown, a senior, hauled in two touchdown passes and had two interceptions, including a pick-six, in the Vikings’ 54-0 to win over Olympia in a winner-to-state Week 10 playoff game Nov. 4. He finished with a team-high 92 receiving yards.

Addison Farman | Glacier Peak | Girls Swim & Dive

Farman, junior, shattered the Class 4A District 1 championship meet diving record with a score 465.05 points on Nov. 4. She broke the previous record by 45.9 points. Her mark was also a school record.

Jacob Hopkins | Cascade | Boys Cross Country

Hopkins, a sophomore, won his second consecutive state title in the ambulatory race at the state championships at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Nov. 4. He broke the 2-mile course record with a time of 13 minutes, 21.8 seconds. Hopkins set the previous record last season.

Will Lesyna | Kamiak | Boys Cross Country

Lesyna, a senior, placed fourth in Class 4A during the state championships at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Nov. 4. He finished the 5,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 49.5 seconds.
