Engineering firm relocates NW branch office to Everett

Electric power engineering and design firm Commonwealth Associates has announced the relocation of its Pacific Northwest regional branch office from Mount Vernon to Everett. The newly opened office, located at 3501 Colby Avenue, Suite 101, has 15 employees and is led by vice president of Western Operations, John P. White. White joined Commonwealth after 11 years at Snohomish County Public Utility District.
EdCC awards $300,000 in scholarships
The Edmonds Community College Foundation awarded over $300,000 in scholarships and grants for the 2016-17 academic year. The Foundation awarded about $270,000 in scholarships to 192 students and provided $34,992 toward 15 innovation and program grants. Contributions from individual donors, employee giving, local and regional foundations, and local companies, including Boeing. Fundraisers and endowed funds also contribute to scholarship funding.
Easterseals targets grant for smoking cessation programs
With a grant from the CVS Health Foundation, Easterseals is advancing a smoking cessation program specifically tailored to the populations it serves: people with disabilities, veterans and caregivers — all groups with higher incidence of smoking. The American Lung Foundation’s Freedom from Smoking online program will take participants through modules containing tips and lessons to quit smoking.
Comcast expands program that helps low-income families obtain high-speed Internet
More public housing and HUD-assisted residents living in Comcast’s service area, including those in the Housing Choice Voucher and Multifamily programs, are now eligible to apply for Internet Essentials, the company’s high-speed Internet adoption program for low-income families. This is the ninth time in five years Comcast has expanded eligibility for Internet Essentials.
