Everett approves $500K repair of Wiggums Hollow Park

EVERETT — The Everett City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to allocate $500,000 for repairs to a north Everett park that was destroyed in an October fire.

Construction to repair the playground at Wiggums Hollow Park could begin by early 2026, according to the city, with completion expected to come before the summer of 2026. The new structure would be a like-for-like replacement of the previous playground, which had just undergone a $677,156 upgrade in 2023.

The park playground was intentionally set on fire on Oct. 27, according to the Everett Fire Marshal’s office. The central play structure was “deemed a total loss,” according to a city memo. Other areas of the park had minor damage and will also need repairs.

The Everett Police Department is handling the criminal investigation into the fire.

Wiggums Hollow Park, located in the Delta neighborhood, was designated as a park space in 2002.
