Local NFL players Gaskin, Arias among NFL cuts

Myles Gaskin, from Lynnwood, was cut by the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday according to multiple reports as NFL teams trimmed rosters to get down to the required 53-player maximum.

Gaskin, a running back who starred at O’Dea High School and the University of Washington, played his first four NFL seasons in Miami prior to stints with the Los Angeles Rams and Vikings last season.

A seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Gaskin has compiled 1,355 rushing yards and 701 receiving yards in his pro career.

Released players become free agents available to sign with NFL teams’ active rosters or practices squads.

Ali Gaye, a defensive end out of Edmonds-Woodway High School, was released by the Houston Texans but was reportedly likely to be added to their practice squad.

Former Jackson High School receiver Daniel Arias III was also released Tuesday, by the the Arizona Cardinals. Arias, who played at the University of Colorado, went undrafted in 2023. He had multiple stints on practice squads with Arizona and Kansas City during the 2023 season. Jacob Eason, a former Lake Stevens quarterback, was previously released by Green Bay on Aug. 5.
