What was cause of PUD power outage on Feb. 23?

It’s interesting that there is no report on the outage that affected many Snohomish County PUD customers on the evening of Feb. 23, about 7 p.m.

The outage itself seemed concentrated in the southern part of the county. It was raining, of course, but the winds were not very significant to cause danger trees to come down.

Could it have been a car taking out a transmission line by bringing a transmission pole down in an accident?

Was it an operator error? The outage in most areas was not too long. Power came back within a few minutes. There was not enough time to search for the source of the outage. Yet, apparently, the source was quickly identified and power was restored.

A power outage after a rate increase could make one wonder for what the customer-owners of the county power company are being asked pay.
