Behind jobless rates: Why isn’t anyone hiring?

Jobs. That’s the topic everyone was talking about yesterday, and with good reason. State and national unemployment is up, even as economists say the country is slowly crawling out of recession.

Turns out, the recovery doesn’t come with jobs. I guess those accessories are sold separately.

Here’s a roundup of unemployment-related stories you might not have seen.

State unemployment is up for December, and county rates pushed up above 10 percent again. The state’s chief economist is worried about the health of the recovery. Meanwhile, national unemployment numbers show that jobs are still hard to come by.
