Joe Mingrino recently joined Monroe’s Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. sales team. As a member of KDN Associates in New Jersey, he will represent all five of Canyon Creek’s product lines in northeastern states.

Aran Buchan has joined the Bothell firm Lovsted-Worthington as an account executive. Previously Buchan was the vice president of a local construction trade association. The Central Washington University graduate has a degree in public relations and extensive knowledge of construction, manufacturing, development and related industries.

Providence Health &Services has named Dr. Joseph Gifford chief of strategic innovation for the Providence and Swedish Medical Center affiliation. Gifford joins Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lawrence Schecter to lead the development of new care products for large employers. The new model of care will be available to companies starting in 2014.

Leigh Wilson is the newest team member at Leader One Financial in Everett. The residential mortgage loan originator was a real estate agent for more than 10 years.

Paige Albert is the newest sales associate for women’s apparel at Renee’s Contemporary Clothing in Everett. With more than 25 years of retail experience, Albert joins Marlene Forsgren on the sales floor.

Former hurdler and Snohomish High alumni Nick Pembroke, a McClain Insurance Services agent, served as an official at the Larry Eason Invitational Track and Field Meet on April 13 at Snohomish High School. Everett’s McClain Insurance was the Gold Medal presenting sponsor.

Kudos

Mary Kaye Bredeson, executive director of the Washington State Center of Excellence for Aerospace and Advanced Materials Manufacturing, has received an exemplary-leadership award from The Chair Academy, an organization focused on developing leadership in colleges and universities.

VSN Network, a television channel for beauty professionals, is now shooting for its annual top 10 series that features the finest salons, spas and resorts in the country. Locally owned Elle Marie Hair Studio has been selected as one of the top salons in the Seattle area. A video crew will visit Elle Marie’s Alderwood location on May 10.

The Everett Clinic is one of the region’s Top 75 Corporate Philanthropists as recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The clinic donated $844,782 to the community in 2012 through grants, fundraisers, sponsorships and donations.

Events

Mark Buehrer, founder and director of 2020 Engineering, is the speaker for this month’s free meeting hosted by SnoLEAF, which is the north Puget Sound chapter of Cascadia Green Building Council. The event is from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Snohomish County PUD’s upstairs meeting room in Everett. Participants are encourage to bring their lunch and a friend.

The next Snohomish County Business Watch general meeting is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Mukilteo City Hall. The topic is how to plan for and survive an event involving a weapon. Learn about Naval Station Everett and hear Capt. Michael Coury’s “State of the Station” address at a special event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Naval Station Everett’s Grand Vista Ballroom. The next Marysville Tulalip Chamber Business After Hours presentation is “Disaster Preparation for All: How Ready Are You for an Emergency?” The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Wine and appetizers will be served.

An emergency preparedness fair sponsored by local governments and businesses will break down culture and language barriers through a day of presentations, information sharing, resource tables and demonstrations. The free event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave. in Everett. It includes complimentary continental breakfast and lunch.

Windermere Real Estate North and non-profit 1 Green Planet are offering free electronics recycling and confidential data disposal. Participants can bring up to 20 banker boxes of data or items such as large appliances, car batteries, computers, printers and more. The event runs from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Windermere office at 4211 Alderwood Mall Blvd. in Lynnwood.

Stephanie Allen, the Snohomish soccer mom who co-founded the national Dream Dinners meal assembly franchise and co-authored a New York Times bestseller, is the keynote speaker at Everett’s Imagine Children’s Museum annual breakfast fundraiser on May 3 at the museum. Allen will auction a private Dream Dinners session for 10 people and autograph copies of her book for the table that raises the most funds. Information: www.imaginecm.org.

Workshops, classes, webinars

The Procurement Technical Assistance Center of Economic Alliance Snohomish County will present two free workshops on Wednesday in the facility’s Vega Conference Room. Snohomish Conservation District is offering free homemade fodder classes in Granite Falls to help farmers keep down their livestock costs. Through a grant from the Boeing Co., YWCA Pathways to Work will present workshops to reach out to returning veterans and their families and to assist them with job search.
