Murray Laidley, a Mill Creek resident and longtime information technology specialist, has been named senior vice president of engineering at Sum Total Systems in Bellevue. Laidley and his team will design and develop the company’s new talent management software.

Bill Trimm has been honored by the state House of Representatives in a resolution sponsored by Rep. John Lovick, D-Mill Creek. A planning professional for 35 years and the Mill Creek planning director for 18 years, Trimm was honored for being “the guiding force” behind the Mill Creek Town Center and his achievements in urban planning.

Karena Hooks, advising and outreach coordinator for Everett Community College, will be honored at noon Feb. 28 at the college with the Trio Achiever award. A federal grant program, Trio helps low-income or disabled college students. The first in her family to attend college, Hooks graduated from EvCC in 2002, earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University and then a master’s degree from the University of Washington. Kristen Anderson has joined Communication Resources Northwest of Mill Creek as a senior associate. Anderson will provide research and corporate writing services to architecture, engineering and construction companies.

Charles Chatagnier has been named vice president of sales with Seattle Specialty Insurance Services in Everett. He will be responsible for marketing the company’s insurance products and services.

Dallas Swank, a lieutenant with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department, recently completed a 10-week program in Seattle through Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety. Swank is a 28-year veteran of the sheriff’s office.

Officers Rusty Jenson, Ralph Provenzano, Jeff Thompson, Greg Oakes, Scott Dorsey and Rob Fisher, along with firefighters Darby Hepper, Ed Mahrt, Joe Basta and Brett Fetcho recently received service awards from Snohomish County Fire District 7. Jenson has 20 years with the department, Provenzano, Thompson, Oakes, Dorsey and Fisher have served 15 years, and Hepper, Mahrt, Basta and Fetcho received 5-year service awards.

Sandy Tebow has opened a new Allstate Insurance office in the Silver Lake Plaza. The Tebow agency offers auto, property, commercial and life insurance. Tebow worked more than 20 years in the Allstate regional office and also worked in an agency. For information, call 425-385-2401.

Dean Shaughnessy, Jim Weber and Kim Buike, Port of Everett marina staff, have helped the port earn a clean marina leadership designation from Clean Marina Washington, an organization seeking to protect the inland waters of the Puget Sound region. The staff was recognized for managing waste, educating boaters and protecting resources.

Meet your Chamber of Commerce and Business After Hours at the Everett Silvertips provides information about the Everett Area Chamber’s activities and how businesses can benefit by participating. The Everett-Afternoon chapter of LeTip International is seeking new members. The group focuses the exchange of experiences and the development of business communication skills to foster business growth. The Everett Boat Show is set for March 8 through 11 at the Everett Events Center. the show features displays of boats for fishing, cruising, water skiing. Good deeds

Customers of Haggen Food &Pharmacy stores in Marysville, Arlington, Lake Stevens and Stanwood raised $13,172 for Snohomish County schools during the last five months of 2006. The money was generated through the School Bucks program, a partnership between Haggen and Kraft Foods. Participation in the program is free to parents, teachers and school district residents with a Haggen buyers card. Customers designate one of 87 schools in Snohomish county to receive funds raised from their purchases.

The 11th annual Monroe community egg hunt is set for 9 a.m. April 7 at Lake Tye Park. Monroe Chamber of Commerce members are being asked to volunteer time and money for the event. Donations can be made to Monroe Family YMCA Egg Hunt, P.O. Box 11, Monroe, 98272, by March 16.
