After its loss to Boeing in the Air Force tanker contest, EADS in continuing with plans to expand in North America.
The European company is in talks with Canada’s Vector Aerospace, the company confirmed in a statement Thursday.
Vector provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services.
EADS had hoped to set up shop in Mobile, Ala., if it had won the contest to supply the Air Force with 179 aerial refueling tankers.
Boeing’s CFO, James Bell, said yesterday that Boeing will provide the Air Force with its basic tanker but won’t look to improve the tanker over the length of the contract, due to the government’s fixed price requirement.
Just yesterday, EADS North America chief Sean O’Keefe said the company still hopes to grab some U.S. tanker work.
