PURCHASE, N.Y. — New York-based business class-only Eos Airlines says it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will cease operations by Monday.
The airline is planning to operate its final flights between London’s Stansted Airport and New York’s Kennedy Airport today. The Purchase-based company intends to eliminate most of its work force.
Chief Executive Officer Jack Williams says in a statement that the “challenging economic and credit environment” forced the company to file a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The airline launched round-trip service for business travelers from New York to London in 2005. It was named after the Greek goddess of the dawn.
