ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish Airlines says it is purchasing five Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
The company notified the Turkish stock exchange on Wednesday that it would purchase one jetliner each month between October 2010 and February 2011.
The report to the stock exchange did not provide a price and company officials were not immediately available for comment.
The company currently has three leased Boeing 777-300 aircraft in its fleet for long-haul flights.
Last month, a Turkish Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 plane crashed short of the runway at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, killing nine passengers and crew. Dutch investigators say the plane crashed because a false reading from a faulty altimeter.
