“Deadliest Catch,” the hit Discovery Channel show, sets out to sea for season seven tonight.
The show has suffered its fair share of tragedy. As TV Guide notes Capt. Phil Harris died last winter and Time Bandit crew member Justin Tennison passed away in February. He was found dead in a motel room.
As Salon points out, one of the draws of the show is the risk of on-the-job death everyday.
I agree that “Catch” is no ordinary reality show. There’s no challenge round or secret ingredient; no cooked up subplots.
The mighty sea provides drama enough. The prize: tasty crab.
Let us know if you’re tuning in, or if the closest you’re getting to crab is drawn butter, a bib and a set of crackers.
