Festive fun for families, couples, kids and friends – all wrapped in small-town charm

This holiday season, downtown Snohomish transforms into a festive destination filled with lights, music and memory-making moments.

From a sing-a-long tree lighting ceremony, santapalooza bar crawl, ice sculpting contest and photo ops with Santa, the town offers something special for everyone all season long.

“This season is all about bringing our community together,” says Katie Waltemyer, Historic Downtown Snohomish Association’s Program & Communications Manager. “Whether you’re here with your kids, a loved one, or a group of friends, our holiday events are designed to help you slow down, soak up the season and make memories with the people you love.”

This is just a glimpse of what the holidays hold in Snohomish!

  • Holiday Open House – Nov. 7 – 8: The season begins with the Holiday Open House, when select downtown shops extend their hours, offer festive treats and drinks, exclusive sales and unveil new holiday collections. It’s a relaxed kickoff that celebrates connection and invites everyone to shop small and celebrate big!
  • Window Display Contest – November through December: As you wander downtown, the Window Display Contest turns every storefront into a work of art. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorites for a chance to win a $50 giftcard to the participating shop of their choice. Every vote earns a raffle entry, find more details online.
  • Snohomish Tree Lighting – Nov. 29: Welcome Santa to town at the Snohomish Carnegie on Saturday, Nov. 29th, 3 p.m. Santa will be available for pictures and a live music countdown will begin on the Carnegie Plaza at 4:45 p.m. with a sing-a-long and tree lighting at 5 p.m.

  • Gingerbread House Party – Dec. 12 – 14: Join Santa and Mrs Claus at Top It Yogurt Shoppe for a gingerbread house decorating party! This popular event tends to sell out, so grab your tickets early. Each ticket comes with a gingerbread house kit and four cups of froyo or hot chocolate. One of this year’s gingerbread sessions has a playful twist: on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 12:30 p.m., families can join a special LEGO Gingerbread Party. “It’s going to be such a fun spin on a classic tradition,” Katie says.
  • New this year! Santa’s Flight into Snohomish Virtual Experience – Dec.13: A fun alternative to traditional Christmas cards! Star in your very own 1.5-minute keepsake video with Santa’s Flight Into Snohomish experience. Captured via green screen and ready to download or share when you leave. It’s the perfect way to treasure your Winterfest memories for years to come.
  • Snohomish Wine Walk – Dec. 13: Sip, stroll and stock up at this year’s Holiday Wine Walk. With a glass in hand and a map to guide you, you’ll wander from one welcoming shop to the next, discovering wines from 10 different Washington wineries and gain access to exclusive bottle sales.
