SEATTLE — Three boats and three boat houses burned in an explosive fire early today at the Jim Clark Marina on Harbor Island in Seattle.
Fire Department spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick said one boat sank, one burned to the water line and the third has damage to the exterior.
She said one boat house collapsed and two adjacent boat coverings were damaged.
Neighbors reported hearing an explosion shortly after 4 a.m. Arriving firefighters untied one burning boat to isolate it. Firefighters fought the flames from the pier and a fireboat.
There were no injuries. No word yet on the cause or a damage estimate.
The department notified the Coast Guard of a potential fuel spill.
Fitzpatrick said foam used by firefighters is biodegradable.
