EDMONDS — Two dogs and four cats died in an Edmonds house fire Friday afternoon, fire officials say.

Around 1:30 p.m., neighbors reported a fire at a three-story house in the 17100 block of Sealawn Drive, South County Fire spokesperson Leslie Hynes wrote in a press release. Fire crews saw black smoke and flames as they approached the house.

Over 35 firefighters worked to put out the flames within 30 minutes, Hynes wrote. Crews continued to extinguish hot spots for the next two hours.

No one was home at the time. Support 7 and Red Cross assisted the two displaced homeowners.

The cost of the damage remained unclear.

The cause remained under investigation Friday.
