Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Eugene Houston, son of Doris Hatton of Marysville, recently graduated from Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman graduated from Mariner High School in Everett in 1996 and from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2000.

Army Pfc. Joseph T. Parker has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He also earned distinction as an honor graduate. Parker is the son of Janice Parker of Lynnwood. The soldier graduated from Shorecrest High School.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Mike Helgerson, Airman Patrick J. Wilson, Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jennifer A. Forbes and Petty Officer 2nd Class Jericho E. Garcia are on deployment in the Persian Gulf with the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. Helgerson is the son of Judy Helgerson of Everett and Ron Helgerson of Snohomish. Wilson, a 1997 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, is the son of Coletta Houser of Coupeville and John Wilson of Bonney Lake. Forbes is the daughter of Suzann and Gary Forbes of Lynnwood. Garcia is the son of Shirley and Reynaldo Garcia of Oak Harbor, and graduated in 1997 from Oak Harbor High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Matthew K. Snyder, son of Julie and Cliff Snyder of Snohomish, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. He is a 2001 graduate of Monroe High School.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Joshua B. Foy, whose wife, Diana, is the daughter of Debra and Robert Ewing of Oak Harbor, recently made a port visit to Bahrain while assigned to the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg. Sailors from the ship made improvements to a Bahraini school during the visit.
