ARLINGTON — A man who reportedly was assaulted in a downtown Arlington alley early Saturday by a father and son died as a result of the injuries Wednesday at a Seattle hospital.

Elliot Carbajal, 40, of Arlington, had been kept on life support at Harborview Medical Center, court documents said. He died around 10:15 p.m.

Arlington police detectives now are investigating the case as a homicide, Arlington city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.

The fight occurred around 1 a.m. in an alley in the 400 block of Olympic Avenue.

Robert L. Carlson, 40, and his son, Robert J. Carlson, 21, were arrested in connection with the fatal attack.

The father has been charged with first-degree assault in Everett District Court. He’s being held on $1 million bail.

The son was jailed and remains behind bars on outstanding warrants.

Additional charges against both the father and son are likely, Banfield said. Prosecutors now are considering second-degree murder, she said.
