Arlington: Art in the Park downtown

Fine art and crafts by 30 artists are to be displayed and sold at the fifth annual Art in the Park on Saturday and Sunday in Legion Park, 100 Olympic Ave., presented by the Arlington Arts Council.

People who enjoy Arlington’s public art collection are encouraged to be on hand at noon Saturday for the council’s annual rundown of accomplishments and donations to the city. Refreshments follow.

Movie theater group to meet Monday

The next “Save the Olympic Theatre” meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Local Scoop restaurant, 434 N. Olympic Ave.

Marysville: Touch a Truck returns

An annual event set for Saturday puts kids in the driver’s seat of public works big rigs, police and fire vehicles and other heavy-duty equipment that children see out on city streets.

Touch a Truck is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Totem Middle School’s Asbery Field, 1605 7th St. NE. Sirens and horns are permitted from 10 a.m. to noon at this free event. Those who plan to attend should leave pets at home.

Marysville Noon Rotary Club is also set to offer special activities for kids during the event and Marysville Kiwanis Club will have treats for sale to raise money for local youth programs. Bring a canned food item and help support the Marysville Community Food Bank.

Seven Lakes: Learn about toxic algae

People who in live in the Seven Lakes area of north Snohomish County are invited to an end-of-summer ice cream social and a presentation from Snohomish County’s LakeWise program set to address the growing problem of toxic algae in local lakes. Games for kids are planned.

The social hour is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday on 65th Drive on the north end of Lake Howard.

Snohomish: Learn to quilt at the library

The Busy Bee Quilters are inviting people to learn how to quilt and sew. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave.

Everyone is invited, but they need to bring their own equipment and supplies.

County: Bus route changes proposed

Community Transit has scheduled a public hearing today on minor changes proposed to some of its bus routes for February.

The hearing is planned for 3 p.m. in the board room at the agency’s headquarters, 7100 Hardeson Road.

Under the changes, route 112 from Ash Way to Mountlake Terrace would also stop at the Lynnwood park-and-ride lot; route 417 from Mukilteo to Seattle would reroute off Highway 99 and 44th Avenue W. and serve a portion of 196th Street SW; and route 885 from Lynnwood to the University of Washington would be replaced by added trips to route 880.
