The All-Washington Academic Team program recognizes and honors top students from the state’s community and technical colleges.
Local students named to the 2018 team:
Marwa Alwattar, from Everett Community College, is a business major and president of EvCC’s Muslim Students’ Association. Her family was forced to move from Iraq to Syria. She plans to pursue an accounting degree.
Kassi Blanchard, also from EvCC, also was selected for multiple scholarships. She plans to become a doctor of osteopathic medicine after overcoming her own health-related challenges.
Naol Debele, from Edmonds Community College, aims to pursue degrees in physics and is a member of the Black Pilots of America.
Jessica Howard, also from EdCC, is a writing tutor and last year presented her study on “Political Rhetoric Involving Climate Change.”
