Camp: Killoqua offers day camp
Children are invited to get outdoors and make new friends at Camp Killoqua this spring.
Killoqua offers School Days Off Camp for students in kindergarten to sixth grade. Spring programs feature games, crafts, boating, songs, team-building, hikes and more on the camp’s 185 acres.
Upcoming dates include 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 18. Bus transportation is available from Everett and Mukilteo.

Host: German exchange students
Everett Community College seeks host families for 20 students and two teachers visiting the college from Germany, May 9-27.
The students are age 17 and older and speak English.
“All of them are delightful, open-minded young people excited to partake in such a fantastic international adventure,” said EvCC German instructor Elke Dinter, who is coordinating the visit.
The visit is part of an ongoing EvCC exchange program with Lessing High School in Winnenden, Germany, that started in 1997. Next year, EvCC students will visit Germany.

Steward: Learn to protect habitat
Snohomish Conservation District and the National Wildlife Federation are offering habitat steward training in Stanwood this spring.
The program includes speakers, field trips and a community project. The program’s goal is to train volunteers to mentor children, work with schools and local groups, and restore, maintain and create wildlife habitat.
Class participants will learn the basics of providing food, water, cover and habitat for wildlife to raise their young. Local experts will teach about native plants, streams and wetlands, adding perch poles and more.
Classes will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 10, 17, 24, and May 1 at the Stanwood PUD, 9124 271st St. NW. Field trips are April 20 and 27.

Adopt: Bring home a cat or dog for $23
Homeward Pet Adoption Center celebrates 23 years with a special event Feb. 23, when all adoptions of cats and dogs are $23.
Throughout February, the shelter aims to collect 230 donations of $23 to help provide vaccinations, food, microchips, FeLV/FIV tests, and more.
The shelter is at 13132 NE 177th Place, Woodinville.

Serve: On Island County boards
The Island County Board of Commissioners seeks applicants to fill three positions on the Conservation Futures Citizens Advisory Board, as well as a vacancy on the Joint Administration Board.
Conservation Futures positions are open to those living in unincorporated areas of Whidbey inside Oak Harbor School District boundaries, Coupeville town borders, and Oak Harbor city limits.
The Joint Administration vacancy is for a representative from the lodging industry in unincorporated Central Whidbey.
Deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. March 8.
