Sláinte: Irish singing to aid Humane SocietyA St. Patrick’s Day Fling featuring Oliver Mulholland, an Irish vocalist originally from

County Derry in Ireland, will be held from 2:30-6:30 p.m. March 23 in the Banquet Hall of the Old Spaghetti Factory, 2509 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. The fundraiser benefits the HappyPaws Farm Humane Society.

Tickets are $30. Reservations are due March 19. Cost includes dinner (chicken parmigiana, vegetarian angel hair pomodoro or baked lasagna with salad and dessert) and silent auction. Dress is casual, green optional.

Admire: Quilting show in MonroeQuilters Anonymous holds its annual show of member-made quilts at Our Wild Quilt Garden, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe. Admission is $8 and good for all three days.

In addition to 500 handmade quilts, there will be a merchant mall, food and beverages and free parking. Discount for bus attendees. Handicap accessible.

Quilters Anonymous, an Edmonds-based nonprofit, is the largest quilting guild in the Puget Sound area. Members are involved in a variety of community service activities. The group meets twice a month and also holds workshops.

Muck: Compost Days starts SaturdayNo green thumb required. Help a local community garden by purchasing a bag of compost and Cedar Grove will match each donation with its own, sending bags of the rich stuff to local community gardens that benefit low-income communities. The Big Garden Give compost drive runs Saturday through April 15 at www.compostdays.com.

A kickoff event with Ciscoe Morris will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Lynnwood Fred Meyer, 4615 196th St. SW.

Lead: Help serve people with disabilitiesVillage Community Services seeks volunteers with expertise in finance, law, facilities management, business, or the culinary arts to serve on its board of directors. Alternatively, community members with the desired expertise who cannot commit to a board position are encouraged to join the nonprofit’s roster of volunteer advisors for special projects.

The nonprofit agency seeks people who passionately believe in the rights, talents and potential of people with disabilities, and want to work toward their full inclusion in the workforce and community, particularly in north Snohomish County.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of the month in the Smokey Point neighborhood of Arlington.
