SILVANA — Andrea Neff has a new tiara.
The new Snohomish County Dairy Ambassador was crowned Saturday at the Snohomish County Dairy Women’s 54th annual banquet at Viking Hall.
She competed against Brooke Schoebachler and Kelsey Anderson, who were named ambassador alternates.
Dairy ambassadors volunteer time in schools, with civic groups and at fairs talking about nutrition and dairy farming.
Andrea, daughter of Simon and Cherene Neff of Arlington, is a 2006 graduate of Marysville- Pilchuck High School. She has attended the University of Hawaii and Everett Community College. She plans a career in education. She was involved with family dairy farms for many years, as well as in 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
Kelsey, daughter of Mark and Cathy Anderson of Snohomish, is a junior at Monroe High School. She also plans a career as a teacher. From a family of dairy farmers, Kelsey is a longtime 4-H member and active in state and national Holstein shows.
Brooke, a home-schooled student, is the calf manager and a relief milker on her family’s dairy farm. She is the daughter of Fred and Tammi Schoenbachler of Stanwood. She has been involved in 4-H and the Junior Holstein Association at the national level. She owns her own milk cows.
Also at the banquet, Patricia McAuliffe Manning was named to the county’s dairy hall of fame, the Dairy Shrine. Manning, a retired dairy farmer, was active for many years as a 4-H leader. She continues to be active in the Washington State Dairy Women organization.
Last year’s Snohomish County Dairy Ambassador, Melissa Cook, plans to go on to compete for the state Dairy Ambassador crown. She was awarded a scholarship from the Dairy Women and the Kearney Award award from dairy farmers in the county.
Cayla Boisserance of Maltby also received a scholarship from the Dairy Women.
