Woman killed by suspected impaired driver in Everett

A driver reportedly hit the person, which prompted the closure of Broadway between 17th and 19th streets Sunday morning.

EVERETT — A woman died after a man suspected of driving under the influence hit her Sunday morning on Broadway in north Everett.

The driver was southbound on Broadway around 6:20 a.m. when he hit the woman, described as in her 60s, at 18th Street, Everett Police Department spokeswoman Ora Hamel said.

Detectives closed the road between 17th and 19th streets during the initial investigation until about 9:30 a.m.

The driver was under investigation for DUI.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, as well as the identity of the woman.
