LYNNWOOD — Four schools were briefly placed in lockdown Nov. 1 after reports that up to three people were shot nearby, officials said.

A dispute in front of a Lynnwood apartment complex Nov. 1 resulted in gunfire that sent a woman to the hospital.

Police rounded up more than a dozen people for questioning and were trying to determine if the single shotgun blast was intentional or unplanned, Lynnwood Police Department spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.

There were no immediate arrests.

“Clearly there was a dispute and there was a struggle and police are in the middle of sorting it all out,” Sessions said.

Four schools were briefly placed in lockdown around 1 p.m. after reports that up to three people were shot nearby. A woman was taken to Swedish/Edmonds hospital after she was hit in the leg by pellets. Two others received medical treatment at the scene but didn’t require hospital care, Sessions said.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of an old brick apartment complex in the 5600 block of 168th Street SW. It appeared the people involved were in their 20s and 30s, Sessions said.

One person left during the argument and returned with a shotgun, Sessions said.

“There was a struggle and just one shot went off,” she said.

Schools that were locked down included Meadowdale Elementary, Meadowdale Middle and Meadowdale High as well as Beverly Park Elementary School.

Sessions said the schools were closed because of their proximity to the shooting scene.

“It didn’t have anything to do with the schools,” she said.

Police closed 168th Avenue in front of the apartment complex for about an hour.

“We wanted to make sure nobody else was at large,” Sessions said.

Based on initial reports, the shooting did not appear related to gang activity, Sessions said.
