Arlington: The kiddies parade is 4:30 p.m. on Olympic Avenue, followed by the grand parade at 5. Festivities run noon to 4 at Legion Memorial Park, 114 N Olympic Ave., with fireworks at 9 at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE. Much more is happening that day. Bothell: The Red, White & Bothell Parade starts at noon along Main Street and Bothell Way. A children’s parade precedes at 11:15 a.m. Come early for a pancake breakfast, 8:30 to 10:30 at the Fire Station, 10726 Beardslee Blvd. More info: bothellwa.gov.
Darrington: A parade is at noon followed by the Mansford Grange Community Fair until 3 p.m. at Old School Park with old-fashioned games and vendors. Fireworks will be set off at dusk. More info: discoverdarrington.com.
Edmonds: An Edmonds Kind of Fourth includes the children’s parade at 11:30 a.m. with the main parade at noon. Evening activities start at 6, with food vendors, live music, a beard and mustache contest and fireworks. More info: edmondswa.com.
Everett: The Colors of Freedom parade starts at 11 a.m. in downtown Everett. The Colors of Freedom Festival then continues at Legion Memorial Park, 1 until 10:30 p.m., with a Thunder on the Bay Fireworks show at 10 over Port Gardner Bay. There is no parking at the park, but there is a shuttle. More info: everettwa.gov.
Mountlake Terrace: The city celebrates a day early with its “3rd of July” celebration, 3 to 11 p.m. Tuesday at Ballinger Park. Parking with shuttle service is at the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center (6001 236th Street SW) and Creekside Church (7011 226th Place SW). Stanwood: The annual celebration starts at 11 a.m. with the parade and children’s costume contest, followed by a short program and awards at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center. At noon there is a free ice cream social with fresh strawberries. More info: sahs-fncc.org.

Holiday transit changes
Local buses will operate on Sunday schedules for the July 4 holiday on Wednesday. Commuter routes to Seattle, operated by Community Transit, will not run.
No fireworks are allowed on buses or transit property.

Everett Transit will operate fare-free for July 4. Special shuttle services also will run from Everett Community College (Walt Price Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St.) and Everett Station (3201 Smith Ave., Bays D1 and D2) to the downtown parade and to the community celebration being held at Legion Memorial Park.
