Toys for Tots drive runs until Dec. 20

U.S. Marines will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Haggen Food &Pharmacy and TOP Food &Drug stores in Snohomish County to collect donations for the 60th annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign.

All Haggen and TOP Food stores are collecting donations of cash and new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 20.

See documentary about oil Friday

A screening of a documentary about oil and Nigeria’s Niger Delta is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at the University of Washington’s Bothell campus. “Sweet Crude” will be shown in room UW2-005 on the campus, 18115 Campus Way NE, Bothell. The screening is free and open to the public.

The film explores the complex issues of the most populous country in Africa, which has billions of dollars in crude oil but an impoverished population.

A discussion with the filmmakers will follow.

Join mothers group for family activities

Mothers &More of south Snohomish County provides opportunities for moms to meet and support each other on issues involving their lives, families and work.

Chapter meetings are the second Wednesday of each month in various locations, play dates are scheduled every week and activities for moms are planned monthly.

Arlington artists plan studio tour

Several home studios in Arlington are scheduled to open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

In addition, Arlington High School students plan to sell artwork and wreaths from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Performing Arts Center lobby, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.

The Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave., plans to feature local artwork at 2 p.m. Sunday.
