Join quilters who sew for heroes
Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Stanwood Senior Center, 7430 276th St. NW, Stanwood.

Red Cross nurse shares China tales
Bev Riter, Red Cross registered nurse, a member of Red Cross’ International Emergency Response Team and chairman of the Snohomish County Chapter’s International Services Committee, will talk about her recent trip to China, Tibet and Cambodia, “Project China: Red Cross Improving Lives,” at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Boeing Room of the Chapter House, 2530 Lombard Ave., Everett.
An estimated 312 million villagers in China (more than the entire population of the United States) live in poor health and hygiene conditions. Riter’s visit included a meeting with the American Red Cross delegate in Beijing to learn how the poor are being served.
It’s a free program.
