Here are some health tips to consider if your home got wet:
If you suspect that your well has been flooded, do not drink the water until the well has been tested and decontaminated.
Septic tank systems that have been flooded should not be used. After waters have receded, check the system for broken lines or overflowing sewage. Correct any problems before using the system.
Discard food, medicines and cosmetics that were not in water-tight containers and that were exposed to floodwaters. Disinfect watertight containers that were exposed to floodwaters.
Discard all milk, fish, meat, poultry and eggs if refrigeration failed and the temperature exceeded 41 degrees.
Do not turn on any flooded electric appliance because it may cause a shock, overheat or start a fire.

Autism benefit concert postponed
A benefit concert scheduled for tonight to raise money for autism research has been postponed because of flooding in the Stanwood area.
Stanwood High School senior Tara Smith, who has an autistic brother, has organized a silent auction and benefit concert as part of her senior project.
The concert at the high school’s performing arts center and will likely be rescheduled for a date over the next two weeks, Smith said.
Smith took the decision to cancel the event well.
“It will just give us a chance to make it even better,” she said.
