ANCHORAGE — Anchorage police arrested a man who they say was driving recklessly because he was under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs and thought every car on the road was undercover police.
Police say 46-year-old Michael Brent Looney was under the influence of a hallucinogenic drug Wednesday when he went careening in his vehicle through mid-town.
Police say Looney was spotted speeding, driving his vehicle in and out of traffic, driving on sidewalks and sometimes going the wrong way down streets. The Anchorage Daily News said Friday that he was apprehended after police pinned his car against a tree.
Looney was charged with multiple offenses, including misconduct involving a controlled substance, eluding and driving with a revoked license.
Police say he also had numerous outstanding warrants.
