STANWOOD — A drywall hand saw was recovered near the body of a man shot to death by a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy in Stanwood, investigators said Tuesday.
A woman had called 911 around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, saying her boyfriend had assaulted her and that he had a knife at a home on Port Susan Place. Three deputies responded. One of them opened fire, killing the man, 43.
His body was taken to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was identified Tuesday as Adam C. Jensen. An autopsy showed Jensen died of gunshot wounds.
The woman, 38, and three children were in a bedroom at the time of the shooting.
The deputy was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
The investigation is being conducted by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team. The team, known as SMART, draws detectives from around the county to respond to incidents where police use fatal force.
No other new details were made public as that investigation continued Tuesday.
