MONROE — Two drivers were hospitalized after colliding vehicles head-on Tuesday morning on U.S. 2 between Monroe and Sultan.
A Gold Bar man, 18, allegedly illegally passed while westbound in a SUV on the highway, the Washington State Patrol said. He crashed into a SUV driven by a Snohomish woman, 28, and was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. She was taken to EvergreenHealth Monroe.
The highway was fully blocked for at least two hours near Fern Bluff Road because of the crash. All lanes opened shortly after noon.
