Air Force Airman Rosa Gradilla-Viayra graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Gradilla-Viayra is the daughter of Guadalupe and Gabriel Gradilla of Bothell. She is a 2012 graduate of Jackson High School, Mill Creek.
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Bradley W. Sharp graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Sharp earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Tina Sharp of Mukilteo and Brad Sharp of Edmonds. The airman is a 2010 graduate of Kamiak High School, Mukilteo. He earned an associate degree in 2012 from Edmonds Community College, Lynnwood.
Air Force Airman Brian Vanderway graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Vanderway is the son of Michelle and Chris Vanderway of Lake Stevens. He is a 2012 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Abram F. Goodloe, son of Margo Beth and Gerald Goodloe of Snohomish, is serving aboard the Navy’s first littoral combat ship, USS Freedom, homeported in San Diego. A littoral combat ship is one that operates near the shore. Goodloe is on an eight-month deployment to Southeast Asia. Goodloe is a 1996 graduate of Snohomish High School. He joined the Navy in March 2004.
Whidbey Island Naval Air Station’s search and rescue unit rescued an injured 53-year-old man on Mount Baker on March 24. The man broke his leg in a snowmobile accident. Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Brent McIntyre and Naval Aircrewman Gabriel Rodriguez, Maggie Champlin and Aircrewman 1st Class Zachary Brunette were involved in the mission.
The mother of Navy Airman Jessica Stewart, who serves on the USS Nimitz, has started an Operation Adopt USS Nimitz page on Facebook. People who want to help send care packages to Nimitz sailors are asked to contact Ashley Steigerwald on the page. Stewart is from Charleston, S.C.
