EVERETT — An investigation of the April 16 jailhouse death of the suspect in the 2016 Cascade Mall shooting in Burlington has concluded he ended his own life, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office earlier determined Arcan Cetin, 20, hanged himself in his cell. An investigation by sheriff’s major crime detectives reached the same conclusion.
“The results of the investigation confirmed the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s determination that the cause and manner of death was suicide and that there was nothing suspicious or criminal about Cetin’s death,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
Cetin, an inmate from Skagit County, was being housed in Snohomish County Jail in Everett. He’d been moved there at the request of his attorneys. He was accused of shooting and killing five people.
The sheriff’s office plans an administrative review of the death as well.
