MARYSVILLE — Police busted a suspected chop shop in Marysville on Wednesday and arrested two men they believe were dealing in stolen property.

The investigation kicked off Tuesday when a King County sheriff’s detective noticed a ski-boat engine for sale on the Internet, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Brent Speyer said. Speyer commands the Snohomish County Auto Theft Taskforce or SNOCAT.

Detectives from King County worked with SNOCAT to respond to the ad and arranged to meet the seller at a Marysville bank.

Two Marysville men, 23 and 26, met the detectives and tried to sell them a $3,000 motor from a stolen boat valued at more than $60,000, Speyer said.

The transaction led police to raid a home Wednesday in the 2600 block of 116th Street NE in unincorporated Marysville. They found an abundance of suspected stolen property including boat parts, two off-road motorcycles, two chain saws, a rifle, a U-Haul car dolly and John Deere vehicle, similar to a golf cart.

Police also found a second boat they believe was stolen, Speyer said.

The younger man was arrested for investigation of possession and trafficking in stolen property. The other man was arrested on a warrant.
