MARYSVILLE — A judge Wednesday found probable cause for the arrest of a 15-year-old in connection with the beating death of another teen.
The judge agreed to release the boy from the Denney Juvenile Justice Center but placed him on house arrest. The teen has not been charged and the case remains under investigation.
Marysville police arrested the boy Tuesday for investigation of second-degree manslaughter, alleging he was responsible for the death of Robert Myrick Jr., 16. Myrick was found unresponsive Aug. 19 in a wooded area near Pinewood Elementary School. He died from head injuries Aug. 28.
Witnesses told police the boys arranged a fight and others gathered to watch them exchange blows. The dispute was reported to be over a girl. Myrick reportedly was on the ground when the other boy continued to punch and kick him, according to Marysville police.
Witnesses waited more than an hour to call 911.
