EDMONDS — A house fire near Lake Ballinger that displaced four people Sunday was caused by a generator, according to officials.
The fire started around 5:22 a.m. Everyone got out of the home in the 23100 block of 75th Place West safely, said Leslie Hynes, a spokeswoman with Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Firefighters called in a backhoe to break up a large, smoldering wood pile next to the house. The generator was found underneath the wood, Hynes said.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the damage at $135,000.
