EDMONDS — A special Valentine’s Day-themed CPR class is planned in Edmonds.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 plans to host “Sweetheart CPR Saturday” on Feb. 12 along with the Edmonds Senior Center.

Learning CPR is a great way to show someone you care about them, said Kim Schroeder, a fire and life safety educator with the district. People often are saved by CPR performed by those they know, she said.

The class is planned from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Edmonds Senior Center at 220 Railroad Ave. Firefighters will help students learn and practice proper CPR techniques on mannequins, district spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.

The class costs $10 per person or $20 for a family of four. Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Applications can be found at www.firedistrict1.org.

Completed applications and payment must be turned in to district headquarters at 12425 Meridian Avenue in Everett, near Mariner High School, by 5 p.m. Feb. 10.

Space in the class is limited, Hynes said.
