EVERETT – The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office will meet with residents to talk about a registered sex offender who is homeless as of Monday.
The meeting will be at 7 tonight at Cascade High School, 801 E. Casino Road.
Benjamin Israel Abolafya, 37, was convicted of rape in 1997 and of burglary nine times between 1982 and 1992. He is required to register as a sex offender.
Mill Creek: Man hit, killed by car identified
A man killed after being struck by a car Saturday has been identified as Carey Dowe of Snohomish.
Dowe, 41, was crossing Highway 96 at 47th Avenue SE just before midnight when he was hit by a car being driven by a 19-year-old Snohomish woman.
Dowe was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died of blunt force injuries to his head and body.
The State Patrol reported Dowe was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.
Everett: Motorcyclist injured in collision
An Edmonds motorcyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after being hit by a car Monday in the 15700 block of Highway 99.
The man, 37, was southbound on the highway about midnight when the driver of a 1995 Mercedes Benz made an improper left turn and stuck him, the State Patrol reported.
He was in serious condition at Harborview Monday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The driver of the Mercedes was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of hit and run.
