Local youth recently served as pages at the state capitol in Olympia, sponsored by Rep. Dan Kristiansen, R-Snohomish.
Hadley Grant is a freshman at Snohomish High School from Monroe.
Jazmine Criswell also attends Snohomish High School and is homeschooled. She enjoys outdoor activities, including riding horses, dirt bikes and ATVs.
Rachel Gonzales attends Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe and enjoys reading and various kinds of dancing, including ballet.
Pages perform a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the House floor. In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages receive daily civics instruction, draft their own bills, and participate in mock committee hearings.
To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. For more information about the legislative page program, visit tinyurl.com/HouseLegPage (Washington State House) or tinyurl.com/SenatePage (Washington State Senate).
