Low-cost spay, neuter clinics offered

The Spay Station mobile pet sterilization clinic will be traveling Snohomish County in the coming weeks.

The station is a portable animal hospital on wheels operated by Pasado’s Safe Haven, an animal shelter near Sultan. It offers low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for animals of county residents.

Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m. each day, and there are a limited number of operations that can be done, usually about 20, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The clinic arrives at 8 a.m. to begin the surgeries, which are done by a licensed veterinarian and vet technician. The animals are given time to recover, and owners can begin picking them up at 5 p.m.

  • Thursday, Lake Stevens Albertson’s, 91st Ave. SE and Meridian Place.

  • Nov. 30, Temple Baptist Church, 1 West Casino Road, Everett.

  • Dec. 4, Marysville Visitors Information Center, Marine View Drive by Arby’s.

  • Dec. 5, Arlington Safeway Foods, 20500 Olympic Place.

  • Dec. 6, Stanwood Thrifty Foods, 27225 90th Ave. NW.

  • Dec. 11, Temple Baptist Church, 1 West Casino Road, Everett.

  • Dec. 12, Bothell Safeway Foods, 20711 Bothell-Everett Highway.

  • Dec. 13, Gold Bar Family Grocer, U.S. 2, Gold Bar.

  • Dec. 14, Monroe Car Wash, U.S. 2, across from Fred Meyer.

    There will be no clinics from Dec. 18 to Jan. 7.

    To qualify for free surgery, bring proof of participation in a state SSI/SD program, food stamps, major VA disability, WIC or Section 8 housing. Costs are $10 for male cats, $20 for female cats; dog spay or neuters are $25.

    Dogs must be at least

    4 months old. Kittens must weigh at least 2 pounds. The adult animals cannot have eaten or had water after 10 p.m. the previous day. Puppies and kittens should be fed and given half the regular amount of food the morning of surgery.

    Dogs need to be on a leash and cats need to be in carriers or in a pillow case. Bring two towels for the animal to travel home in.
