EVERETT — A woman was assaulted at Everett Community College on Sept. 25.
Around 7:30 a.m., a man came up behind the woman in a parking lot, touched her bottom, grabbed her chest and forced her to kiss him, according to an alert sent out by school security on Thursday, nine days later.
A description of the suspect was not available.
John Bonner, EvCC vice president who oversees security, said he didn’t know why there was a delay in alerting students.
“We’re looking into why our security office didn’t notify the campus more quickly,” he said.
In response to the assault, EvCC is increasing patrols in the parking lots.
Security is available to escort people to and from their vehicles. To make arrangements, call 425-388-9990.
In the alert, people were encouraged to be “aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.”
The Everett Police Department was notified.
