EVERETT — An Everett man died Saturday night after crashing a motorcycle, which snarled Interstate 5 near 41st Street in Everett.
John Daab, 61, was riding north around 8 p.m. and tried to speed by another driver in a Toyota RAV4 SUV but hit one of its tires, according to the Washington State Patrol.
He hit the Jersey barrier on the left shoulder, was knocked off the motorcycle into a sign and landed on the southbound left shoulder. He was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation compliant helmet, but died at the scene.
The other driver was not injured.
The state patrol believes speed and an improper lane change caused the fatal crash.
