LYNNWOOD — An Edmonds man who died Tuesday after being hit by a driver in Lynnwood has been identified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded around 1:40 a.m. to the scene in the 16900 block of 13th Avenue W, where Charles Fritz was hit and killed and another man was seriously injured. According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, a 64-year-old woman driving a pickup truck hit the two men, both 20. Detectives believe they were part of a group of five who were riding skateboards, scooters and bicycles on 13th Avenue W.
Both men had life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. Fritz was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died. The other man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Fritz died of blunt-force injuries from the crash, according to the medical examiner. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
