ARLINGTON — A man who died last week in a recreational vehicle fire near Arlington has been identified.
Around 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, witnesses called 911 to report a fire at the Smokey Point RV Park in the 17500 block of Smokey Point Boulevard, said North County Fire Marshal Steve Goforth. They reported someone was inside screaming for help. A neighbor tried to rescue the person, but the fire was too strong.
When firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to trees and surrounding RVs, Goforth said. After the fire was knocked down, they found William Dailey, 66, inside the trailer.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Dailey died of fire-related injuries.
Early indications suggested the fire was an accident, Goforth said.
