Man offers EvCC student ride, allegedly tries to rape her

The suspect reportedly talked to the woman earlier in the night and touched her twice.

EVERETT — A man allegedly attempted to rape an Everett Community College student after offering her a ride.

The man had talked to the woman at a cafe on campus earlier in the night on Monday, according an alert from the security office. During the conversation, which took place about 6 p.m., he reportedly touched her bottom twice. They did not know each other.

At 8:30 p.m., the student said she saw the same man driving a gray van on a nearby street. He offered her a ride home and she accepted.

As they approached their destination, the man allegedly attempted to rape her.

The investigation continues.
