SEATTLE — Prosecutors say a 25-year-old man who was driving impaired by a combination of alcohol and marijuana has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison in a crash that killed a Marysville woman last December.
The Seattle Times reported that Christopher Wittman, of Tukwila, pleaded guilty last month in King County Superior Court to vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment. He was sentenced last Friday.
The Washington State Patrol said Barbara Eakin, 54, and her husband, Clay Eakin, were driving to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on southbound State Highway 509 early on Dec. 17 when Wittman lost control of his car. He had been driving on a side road above the freeway. Wittman’s car rolled down an embankment and landed in the southbound lanes of 509, where it struck the Eakins’ vehicle.
Barbara Eakin died from her injuries.
